About the Awards
WSC supports our members in achieving their goals and advancing their careers by celebrating each others accomplishments and acknowledging the ideas and contributions of the women around us. These awards were created to raise awareness and exposure of the outstanding work being done by women in the cybersecurity industry.
She has promoted innovative programs or projects to support and promote workforce development and employment in partnership with schools, industries, companies, and other outreach organizations.
She has made use of technology, in a creative and innovative way, in the classroom or other learning environments. Should demonstrate how they motivated, rewarded, and/or challenged students to achieve through the application of tech.
She has demonstrated excellence in mentoring (formally or informally), has been outstanding in supporting, encouraging, and promoting your educational, professional and personal development.
Cyber Rising Star
Newbies excited about growth associated with the cybersecurity field. Demonstrated excellence in her professional position as well as contribution to the industry and society in positive ways. She should demonstrate outstanding success and leadership in one or more of the following areas: entrepreneurship, education, volunteering, industry development and advocacy, and/or community service.
She has excelled in the area of penetration testing in work and play as well contributed to the hacker community as whole, through projects, conferences, competitions or a combination of these. During her time as a pentest ninja, she has also mentored others to become pentest ninjas.
She has excelled in the area of developing computer software or programs in a way that guards against the accidental introduction of security vulnerabilities. This could be in the form of being on a team developing or leading the team.
Volunteer of the Year
WSC members only, free or paid, who have volunteered time to WSC and its programming throughout the year. The recipient(s) of this award are chosen by the Board of Directors and the Event Planning Committee.
This recipient is chosen by the President/CEO of the organization for outstanding work with WSC and within the cybersecurity community. She has demonstrated excellence in work and helping others and has left a mark on the community as a whole.
Entries will be judged on creative excellence and relevancy to the category for which they are submitted. WSC reserves the right to withhold an award in any category should entries not meet the criteria. Judges will include members of WSC and a select number of guests from throughout the community. All decisions are final.

How do I know she is in the cyber field?
Cyber security is defined as the state of being protected against the criminal or unauthorized use of electronic data, or the measures taken to achieve this. NIST breaks down each area needed to protect the cybersecurity infrastructure. This framework also provides a good deal information on the different jobs roles, so check it out here.
